  3.     There is one explanation for the misery and suffering of
  4. the people of Nicaragua (WORLD, July 24): the U.S.'s unjust
  5. intervention in the economy and politics of Nicaragua,
  6. beginning in the past century and continuing to this day.

  10.     It has never been the intent of the Sandinistas to allow
  11. full political and economic freedom for Nicaraguans. For any
  12. positive changes to occur, the Sandinistas must be subjected to
  13. persistent pressure and vociferous disapproval. I pray that
  14. those in the U.S. Congress who make excuses for this oppressive
  15. Communist regime have not sealed the fate of the unfortunate
  16. Nicaraguan people.
